Recovering from a work injury? We can help you.
Hurt at work? Sunshine Health Osteopathy helps injured workers recover safely and get back to normal duties. With an accepted WorkCover claim, your treatment may be funded through WorkSafe Victoria, and we'll work with your GP, employer and insurer.
A workplace injury can affect much more than your working day. Whether it came from lifting, repetitive tasks, a fall, or another incident at work, we'll keep your job and your recovery in mind from the very first visit.
We'll shape your treatment plan around how your body is coping and what your role demands, whether that's heavy lifting, long shifts, or time at a desk.
Treatment is subject to claim approval. Not sure where to start? Get in touch, and we'll talk it through.

Work Injuries Explained.
Some work injuries hit suddenly, while others build up over weeks or months. Here's a closer look at how they develop and what osteopathy involves.
-
A single heavy lift can cause an injury, but so can months of repeating the same motion. Poor workstation set-up, long hours on your feet and rushed manual handling are other common contributors, and the back, neck and shoulders are often involved.
-
Symptoms vary from person to person and may include:
An ache that builds as your shift goes on
Stiffness first thing in the morning
Pain when reaching or lifting
Tightness in the arms or shoulders
Soreness that doesn't ease with rest
-
We treat work-related injuries across a wide range of workplaces, including:
Warehouses and factories
Building sites and trades
Hospitals and care settings
Shops and hospitality
Offices and driving jobs
-
We start by looking at how your whole body is coping with the demands of your job, not just the sore spot. Your osteopath will assess how you move and which joints and muscles may be contributing to your pain.
Hands-on treatment may help ease tight muscles and free up stiff joints. Your plan is tailored to your injury and to what you need to manage at work.
Between visits, you'll get practical tips for looking after yourself at work and at home.
WorkCover Osteopathy FAQ
-
No. Under WorkSafe's current guidelines, a GP referral isn't required for osteopathy with an accepted claim. We'll need your claim number and insurer details, and a capacity certificate isn't needed just to begin treatment. Funding remains subject to claim approval, so call us if you'd like to check before booking.
-
Once your claim has been accepted, WorkCover may cover reasonable treatment for your work-related injury. What's covered depends on claim approval and your insurer's requirements.
-
You lodge the claim yourself, but we're happy to point you in the right direction. Your employer, your GP or WorkSafe can explain the steps.
-
Only with your consent. If you agree, we can share how you're progressing and what duties suit your recovery.
-
Osteopathic treatment is hands-on, and some techniques can feel a little uncomfortable, especially on tender areas. You're always in control. We explain what we're doing, adjust the pressure to suit you and stop if you'd like us to. Some people feel a bit sore afterwards, and we'll let you know what to expect.
-
That depends on your injury, your job and any advice from your doctor. We'll talk through what's realistic and, with your consent, can suggest suitable duties to your employer.
-
No, you don't need one to book. If you already have imaging or reports, please bring them along. If we think further tests would help, we'll talk it through with you and, with your consent, liaise with your GP.
